This is the fourth album by the Finnish Love Metal/Goth Rock band HIM. This was the band’s album that broadened their fan base. It’s also the first HIM album that doesn’t have Ville Valo on the album cover. Instead it has Valo’s trade mark Heartagram logo. HIM has always had a very tight sound instrumentally and this is no exception to that. It’s said that Ville called the album Love Metal as a answer to the media to what style of music his band played. This album has that style in it. There are a lot of love songs on every HIM album. But that’s what this band is about. Ville Valo sings vulnerable love songs while the band plays the most well sounding wall of music around it. Each song on this album builds and grows into great music. If you listen to each song on the album you can find something that you can appreciate. If it’s not the vocals it’s the guitar parts or just the overall musicianship. I am always impressed with the lyrics and song structures on every HIM album . I would recommend this album to any of my friends. You will rarely hear a band this good musically. I would hate to pick a favorite song since in m mind they all have good qualities. That’s what a good album is.
